Four Points by Sheraton SJ Downtown

To avoid the demolition of this historic landmark, the Hotel Montgomery was relocated during an expansion project at the neighboring Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose.

During the relocation project, the building was moved nearly 200 feet to the south of its previous location. At over 4,800 tons, the Hotel Montgomery is one of the heaviest buildings ever moved.

Kier + Wright provided civil engineering services for the “The Move,” including design of grading and drainage, design of off-site frontage improvements, and preparation of utility relocation plans.

After “The Move,” the Montgomery Hotel, now called the Four Points by Sheraton San Jose Downtown, was renovated and reopened. Kier + Wright provided civil engineering services for the design of parking and utilities at the new site and provided construction staking for the renovation project.
